Moz Alternatives – Featured image

Looking for a solid Moz alternative? I’ve got you covered.

I’ve tested dozens of tools over the years. And while Moz is capable, I’ve run into some limitations that sent me searching for other options.

For example, the Moz Domain Overview report lacks key features such as charts to track organic traffic and keyword growth. There also isn’t a global volume metric that details numbers by country.

In this post, I break down the top Moz alternatives I’ve found for all-in-one SEO suites and specialized tools.

I handpicked these alternatives based on the following factors:

  • Pricing
  • Functionality
  • Ease of use
  • Data reliability

Whether you need a replacement for Moz Pro or a niche tool for keyword research or local SEO, you’ll find great options here for every budget and use case.

Let’s get started!

All-in-One SEO Tools

If you’re using Moz Pro, you know it packs a lot of features into one platform. Here are multiple comprehensive tools that can replace Moz’s capabilities.

Semrush

In my experience, Semrush is the best overall Moz alternative when it comes to feature set and data accuracy.

Semrush – Homepage

Semrush offers over 55 tools for SEO, content, social media, and paid advertising. Unlike Moz, it’s built for entire marketing teams, not just SEO specialists.

Depending on your SEO needs, you can use Semrush for the following tasks (and more):

  • Keyword research
  • On-page SEO
  • Position tracking
  • Backlink analysis
  • Link building
  • Competitive intelligence

If you run local SEO campaigns, Semrush has a whole set of tools called Semrush Local that are just for that purpose. You can add this tool kit on to a standard Semrush subscription or purchase it separately.

Semrush also has an AI content writing tool called Content Shake. This tool can generate SEO-friendly content based on Semrush data—something Moz doesn’t offer.

Ask the tool to write posts from scratch or optimize existing content to improve engagement and SEO.

Pros

Semrush’s Domain Overview report blows Moz’s out of the water. You get a clear view of organic and paid traffic estimates, along with keyword data:

Semrush’s quantitative analysis suggests its platform has a more comprehensive backlink database than Moz. But it’s important to remember that these figures are approximate.

Semrush also claims to have a much larger keyword database than Moz (over 26 billion versus 1.25 billion, respectively). But take these numbers with a grain of salt—they’re estimates.

Semrush’s keyword research capabilities are also more robust than Moz’s.

On top of search volume and difficulty, you get:

  • Location-specific volumes
  • Search trends
  • Competition analysis
  • Paid search insights

I’m also a big fan of the Keyword Strategy Builder, which automatically clusters keywords and identifies topic clusters.

This can help you instantly identify subtopics for pillar pages and secondary keywords.

Cons

In my experience, Semrush’s keyword data might not perfectly align with your Google Search Console data.

If you’re a new user, you might find Semrush’s extensive tool kits overwhelming at first. But Semrush Academy has great tutorials and guides to help you learn the ropes.

Only one user can access Semrush at a time. If you need more users, you’ll have to pay $45 per month per user on the most affordable plan.

Pricing

Semrush is a paid tool with a seven-day free trial. (Use this link for a 14-day trial).

The $139.95 Semrush Pro plan (billed monthly) is generally suitable for solopreneurs and freelancers. Use it to manage up to five projects simultaneously and track up to 500 keywords.

Larger businesses and agencies will likely need the Guru or Business plans, which support more extensive project management and keyword tracking.

Ahrefs

Ahrefs is another powerhouse, all-in-one SEO tool that can replace Moz. It offers everything from local SEO and domain analysis to competitive research.

Ahrefs

Pros

Ahrefs claims an even larger keyword database than Semrush, with 28.9 billion keywords. This means potentially more keyword suggestions, helping you discover more relevant search terms for your SEO campaigns.

Unlike Moz, Ahrefs has a comprehensive tool kit to help you assess your overall website performance in organic search, including keyword rankings and traffic estimates for individual pages.

Ahrefs – Keywords Explorer

Additionally, Ahrefs allows you to examine the connection between your website’s organic traffic and the number of indexed pages.

Specifically, it helps you understand if producing more content increases organic traffic and keyword rankings.

Cons

Unlike competitors, Ahrefs doesn’t offer a free trial. To start using Ahrefs, you must purchase the Lite plan for $129.

Ahrefs can be tough to get the hang of if you’re new to SEO tools. The lowest-priced plan has limited capabilities compared to the more expensive plans.

For example, you won’t have access to Content Explorer, Batch Analysis, or SERP Comparison unless you pay $249 per month.

Pricing

Ahrefs is considerably more expensive than Moz.

The most affordable monthly plan costs $129. But it does not include some key features for content management, broken link-building tools, and content gap analysis.

You’ll have to upgrade to the Standard plan (at minimum) to see vital metrics for keyword analysis, such as search intent and historical SERP updates.

SEO PowerSuite

SEO PowerSuite is a comprehensive SEO tool kit to manage and improve your website’s rankings.

It includes tools for everything from website auditing and rank tracking to backlink analysis.

Pros

Unlike Moz, SEO PowerSuite has a surprisingly generous free version.

  • Track unlimited keyword rankings
  • Audit up to 1,100 backlinks
  • Crawl up to 500 URLs
  • Reach out to 1,000 prospects

That’s a great starting point for SEO newbies on a budget.

In comparison, Moz’s most affordable plan only allows tracking 50 keywords for a single website. So, if you’re an SEO novice, SEOPowerSuite could be a budget-friendly Moz Pro alternative.

Cons

I’ve encountered a few SEO PowerSuite limitations you should consider before using this tool.

First, it’s downloadable software for Windows, Mac, and Linux operating systems, which means there is no online version.

If you purchase a new laptop or switch to a different work computer, you’ll need to download and install the SEO software all over again, rather than simply being able to access it from your browser.

For me, online SEO tools are more practical because I can access them from anywhere with an internet connection, saving time and hassle.

Second, there’s no monthly subscription. You must commit to a yearly plan upfront. So, if the tool doesn’t cut it, you’re stuck with it until your subscription ends.

Weigh your options carefully before diving in.

Pricing

SEO PowerSuite offers a tiered pricing structure with two yearly plans.

Beyond the free version, you can opt for Professional and Enterprise plans that allow you to save projects, schedule SEO tasks, and increase data limits.

Raven Tools

Raven Tools is an affordable Moz alternative, with 45 tools with a broad range of SEO and content management features.

The platform offers various features to help you optimize your website, including technical site audits, rank tracking, competitor analysis, and link building.

Additionally, you can manage and track your social media campaigns for Facebook, X, YouTube, and LinkedIn inside Raven’s dashboard.

Pros

Unlike Moz, Raven’s most basic plan allows you to manage two domains and track up to 1,500 keywords per month—a significant competitive edge.

You can also connect your Raven account to Looker Studio for enhanced data visualization and interactive report creation.

Once your website is connected, the dashboard provides comprehensive insights into its current state and performance using data and metrics from Majestic.

Additionally, Raven integrates easily with CallRail for call tracking, a unique feature especially valuable for local businesses and ecommerce websites.

Cons

Raven’s blog is neglected, with the most recent post from 2021. This means its content is outdated, and customers can’t rely on it for up-to-date SEO guidance and techniques.

Unlike Moz, Raven Tools doesn’t provide any features to manage local SEO. If you work on local SEO campaigns, you’ll have to use a different tool.

Moz also offers a longer free trial of 30 days, while Raven only gives you a week.

Pricing

There’s no free version of Raven, so if you want to use it, you’ll have to pay for one of their five plans. Small Biz is the most affordable plan, costing $49 a month.

SE Ranking

SE Ranking is a platform designed for SEO agencies to manage their clients’ projects efficiently.

SE Ranking – Homepage

It offers a range of tools for competitor analysis, keyword research, backlink monitoring, and website health checks.

Unlike Moz, SE Ranking also includes features tailored for social media marketers, which they can use to manage Facebook and X campaigns.

Pros

SE Ranking goes beyond SEO with content creation and management tools. This includes features for topic research, content optimization, SEO brief creation, and performance tracking.

They also offer a dedicated Agency Success Kit to help agencies manage clients efficiently, from acquiring new business to delivering successful projects.

Cons

Unlike Moz, SE Ranking doesn’t have a free version. After your two-week free trial, you’ll have to pay to keep using it or lose all your data. And the Agency Pack is only available for Pro and Business plan users.

Pricing

SE Ranking starts at $65 a month, and you can track 500 keywords on five websites. This might be enough for smaller sites.

SE Ranking – Pricing

Need to track more? The Pro plan gives you up to 3,500 keywords on 30 websites and ranges from $119 to $199 per month.

If you have a big website with tons of keywords, the Business plan is the way to go. It costs $259 to $599 for up to 15,000 keywords per day.

Serpstat

Serpstat is a super helpful tool for SEO, PPC, and content marketing. It does all the usual stuff you’d find in Moz but has some cool extras like keyword clustering and AI-generated content using ChatGPT.

Pros

Unlike Moz, Serpstat can be used by an entire marketing team since it isn’t solely focused on SEO.

If you run a small business and need one tool for just about everything, it can be a solid choice.

This includes:

I looked at what people are saying about Serpstat on the review site Capterra, and users praise its clean dashboard UI, responsive support, and powerful keyword research functionality.

Cons

I’ve seen a few people say Serpstat’s traffic numbers aren’t always accurate. One person even said: “Traffic estimates are too high. Use GSC for this instead.”

This might be the case since Serpstat’s search volume data relies on Google Ads information, which is only accurate for paid advertising. It’s not reliable for measuring organic search traffic.

Pricing

Serpstat is an affordable SEO tool with a one-week free trial. The only difference is that, unlike Moz, Serpstat doesn’t have a free version, so you’ll need to pick a paid plan once the trial is over.

While Serpstat labels its “Individual” plan as suitable for freelancers and contractors, I think it’s versatile enough for small SEO agencies.

For $59 a month, you can track 10,000 keyword rankings and analyze up to 30,000 pages on five different websites. That’s a pretty good deal.

Majestic

Majestic is an SEO tool focused on backlink analysis and link building. It relies on metrics called Trust Flow and Citation Flow to assess the quality and quantity of backlinks.

Pros

Unlike Moz, you can check out a website’s backlinks on Majestic without even signing up. It’s a quick way to get a general idea of any site’s backlink profile without diving into all the details.

Cons

Majestic is mainly for checking backlinks, but it also does some keyword stuff and competitor analysis. It’s not as good as Moz Pro for tasks like on-page SEO, competitor research, and technical website analysis.

Pricing

Unlike a lot of other SEO tools, Majestic doesn’t let you try before you buy. But they do have a seven-day money-back guarantee if you’re not happy.

Majestic has two plans: Lite and Pro. Lite is $49.99 a month for keyword research and backlink campaigns. If you need more advanced features, the Pro plan is $99.99 a month.

Tools for Keyword Research

These are the best contenders if you’re looking for alternatives to Moz for keyword research.

Ubersuggest

Neil Patel is a well-known SEO guru and the founder of Ubersuggest.

Ubersuggest started as a keyword tool but has expanded to offer site audits, rank tracking, and backlink analysis.

Pros

Ubersuggest lets you do three keyword searches every day for free. Use it to find new keyword ideas and analyze them for SEO and PPC.

On the other hand, Moz only allows 10 free searches per month and requires a paid subscription for more in-depth keyword research.

Similar to Moz’s Keyword Suggestions Report, you can type in a seed keyword, and Ubersuggest will give you a bunch of keyword ideas.

It also has tools to help you with SEO copywriting, like finding new content ideas and using AI to generate content.

Overall, Ubersuggest is an affordable alternative to Moz. If you’re mostly focused on keywords and content, it’s a great choice.

Ubersuggest

Cons

Ubersuggest has fewer in-depth keyword reports compared to Moz. For instance, search intent and organic click-through rates (CTRs) metrics are missing.

Moz also tells you the minimum domain authority of the top 10 websites for your target keyword, which Ubersuggest doesn’t do.

Pricing

Ubersuggest has a free plan that limits you to three searches daily. If you want more, you have to pay for a subscription.

Ubersuggest – Pricing

The most affordable plan, Individual, costs $12 per month and lets you manage one domain. If you manage multiple client websites, consider choosing between Business and Enterprise plans.

Answer The Public

Answer The Public is a tool that can help you understand what people search for online.

The tool analyzes Google’s autocomplete suggestions and reveals questions and phrases related to a specific topic. Use this data to gain valuable insights into your audience’s interests and create better content.

Pros

Answer The Public isn’t just limited to Google. Discover what people search for on Bing, YouTube, and Amazon. This tool helps you understand your audience’s questions and interests across different platforms.

Plus, you can try it out for free with three daily searches without signing up.

Cons

Answer The Public is a good place to start for finding keywords, but it doesn’t give you all the details.

The traffic data it shows is just an estimate, so it’s not super accurate in my experience. It’s helpful for getting some ideas, but you’ll need to do more research if you want to dive deep into keywords.

Pricing

Answer The Public offers a free version with limited daily use. You can only perform three searches per day. Upgrade to a paid plan if you need more.

The most affordable option is the Individual paid plan, which costs $11 monthly and allows 100 daily searches.

SpyFu

SpyFu lets you spy on your competitors.

SpyFu – Homepage

It helps you find their best-performing keywords and which keywords they use in their paid and organic search campaigns.

Use it to track your website’s rankings, build backlinks, and generate SEO reports.

Pros

With SpyFu, you can research and analyze keywords, estimate your chances of ranking in organic search, and see who’s competing for your keywords in paid advertising.

It’s a valuable tool to understand your closest competitors and learn from their successful strategies. On top of that, you don’t need to register to conduct a quick keyword analysis.

Unlike Moz’s Explore by Keyword report, SpyFu’s Keyword Overview report provides more than just search volume and keyword difficulty

It includes:

  • Mobile versus desktop search trends
  • Historical ranking data
  • Ad examples
  • Potential backlink opportunities

Cons

SpyFu doesn’t show you search intent data, which Moz does. This is a big disadvantage, especially when creating helpful content that aligns with users’ expectations.

Pricing

SpyFu is a paid tool with no free trial. However, it offers a 30-day money-back guarantee if you want to cancel your subscription.

SpyFu – Pricing

The pricing structure includes a budget-friendly option at $39 per month and a Professional plan for $79 per month.

Position Tracking Tools

Need an alternative to Moz’s STAT for rank tracking? Here are some great options:

AccuRanker

AccuRanker lets you track your website’s organic positions across various search engines, including Google, Bing, YouTube, and Baidu.

AccuRanker

Similar to Google Analytics, the tool can handle a large data set and lets you create segments and filter data based on different parameters.

Pros

AccuRanker boasts a massive database of 24 billion keywords—much larger than Moz’s 1.25 billion. This means potentially more comprehensive rank tracking.

Review site users praise its accurate data and user-friendly interface.

Cons

There is one important thing you should know about how AccuRanker works:

AccuRanker’s pricing model counts each keyword, device, and location combo as a unique keyword. This can add up quickly if you’re tracking across multiple devices and regions.

For example, if you want to track “healthy breakfast recipes” as a keyword on desktop and mobile in two different locations, this will count as four unique keywords.

This is crucial to consider when choosing a pricing plan that fits your specific keyword tracking needs.

AccuRanker might be a bit pricey for smaller businesses. So, if you’re on a tight budget, it might not be the best fit.

Pricing

AccuRanker is significantly more expensive than many other tools, including Moz.

Tracking 1,000  keywords alone costs at least $129. The cost increases from there.

For instance, tracking 2,000 keywords will set you back $249 monthly. Given its high cost, I believe other options offer better value for a similar or lower price point.

Rank Tracker

Rank Tracker is a handy tool for keeping an eye on your website’s rankings.

  • Check your positions on both desktop and mobile
  • Optimize for local search
  • Find new keywords
  • See what your competitors are doing online

Just like AccuRanker, this software allows you to track your website’s organic visibility across multiple search engines and geographic locations.

Pros

Rank Tracker is different from Moz because it lets you check rankings on YouTube and many different search engines, such as Naver and Yandex.

Moz only lets you check rankings on Google, Yahoo, and Bing.

Rank Tracker’s free version also allows unlimited keywords—which is way better than Moz’s 50-keyword limit on their cheapest plan.

Cons

Rank Tracker is part of the SEO PowerSuite software package I mentioned earlier. Unlike online tools, Rank Tracker requires installation on your computer. This can be inconvenient if you prefer to access your tools from any device.

Pricing

Rank Tracker is included in all SEO PowerSuite membership levels, ranging from free to $1,396 per year.

RankWatch

Rankwatch – Homepage

RankWatch is an SEO platform that can help you monitor your website’s organic keyword rankings and analyze your competitors.

Pros

RankWatch’s ranking reports are concise and informative. You get a clear view of keyword performance, distribution, and top landing pages.

Similar to RankTracker, you can check your keyword positions in 13 different search engines, including less common ones like Bing, Yahoo, Yandex, and Naver.

And unlike Moz, you can create your own custom plan if you don’t like any of their options.

Cons

While substantial at 2 billion, its keyword database is still smaller than most other tools discussed in this article. This might be a limitation for those who need a vast keyword pool.

I couldn’t find recent user testimonials—most reviews are from several years back. This could be a red flag that this tool isn’t as popular as it used to be.

Some former users also shared that pricing and outdated user interface are the drawbacks:

Despite their claims of affordability, I found their pricing plans to be exorbitant for the subpar service provided.”

Pricing

RankWatch is a paid SEO tool with a few different monthly pricing plans ranging from $20 to $449.

If none of the existing plans fit the bill, you can create your own. Select how many keywords and backlinks you want to track for a custom price.

Sign up for a trial (no credit card required) to test all its features during a 14-day free trial.

Local SEO Tools

If you’re looking for Moz Local options, I’ve got a few suggestions below.

BrightLocal

BrightLocal is a local SEO tool for multi-location brands and agencies wanting to improve their local rankings.

It offers a suite of features, including local SEO audits, citation building, review management, and rank tracking.

Pros

BrightLocal positions itself as an all-in-one tool kit for managing local listings.

The platform offers a Citation Builder tool that lets you submit citations to over 100 sites in the U.S., U.K., Australia, and Canada. Moz also does, but only for the U.S., U.K., and Canada.

It also offers a Local Search Audit tool, Local Rank Tracker, and more.

I took a quick look at what people are saying about BrightLocal online. Hridoy Rehman, the founder of Growth Boilerplate and a well-known SEO expert, shared his top five local rank tracker tools and ranked BrightLocal second.

Cons

Even though I mainly stumbled upon positive user testimonials about BrightLocal, I dug deeper to discover potential cons.

Some users mentioned BrightLocal’s clunky graphs and overwhelming visuals. Others note UI issues that affect dashboard usability.

Pricing

BrightLocal is a paid tool with a 14-day free trial. Plans start at $39 per month for one location and increase from there.

Additionally, BrightLocal provides a Citation Builder service with pricing based on the number of sites submitted, starting at $3.20 per site.

WhiteSpark

WhiteSpark offers local SEO tool kits for small businesses, agencies, freelancers, and multi-location enterprises looking to improve local rankings.

Pros

In my opinion, WhiteSpark is intuitive and easy to navigate, even for those without extensive SEO knowledge. It efficiently identifies citation opportunities, helping businesses build a strong online presence.

WhiteSpark covers a much wider range of countries for local listings than Moz Local.

This includes:

  • USA
  • Canada
  • South Africa
  • Brazil
  • Singapore
  • New Zealand
  • Many European countries

WhiteSpark also offers local SEO services and tools. So, if you need help creating local SEO campaigns or optimizing your local listings, WhiteSpark can assist you.

Cons

Some users report that WhiteSpark lacks citation features compared to other local SEO tools like BrightLocal.

The process of setting up a new project or running a citation search can also be confusing and non-intuitive at times.

Pricing

WhiteSpark is pretty flexible with their pricing. You only pay for what you need.

For example, managing a single Google Business Profile is just $1 per month. Rank tracking starts at $14 per month, and local citation monitoring starts at $33 per month.

Yext

If you’re looking for a robust platform to manage your online presence, Yext might be the tool for you.

Unlike Moz Local, which focuses primarily on citation management, Yext offers a more comprehensive solution.

Control your business information across a wide range of digital touchpoints:

  • Online listings
  • Search engines
  • Maps
  • Social media platforms
  • Business directories

Pros

Unlike Moz, Yext offers dedicated features to actively encourage users to leave reviews, which is crucial for reputation management.

On review sites like G2, users praise Yext’s ease of setup for new locations, all-in-one review and page management, bulk data management, and automated reporting.

Cons

Some users complain about Yext on Reddit as being non-user-friendly and having poor customer service.

One user even claimed that Yext’s citations are temporary and might disappear if you stop using their service.

Pricing

Yext doesn’t work like the monthly subscription services you might be used to.

Instead of paying month-to-month, you commit to a full year upfront. So, you’ll need to pick the plan that fits your business best and pay for it all at once.

The cost depends on the package you choose and how many locations you have.
